Elise & Brian-June 26, 2021

Elise and Brian moved their wedding from an indoor venue in Grand Rapids (COVID) to what seemed like the SAFE option of an intimate backyard tented wedding in Traverse City on family property. If you live in Michigan, I'm sure you remmeber the weekend of June 26th, as a challenging one for an outdoor event. With storms spanning nearly the entire state, things were left wet and humid in most parts of the state..

Weddings like these pose challenges for all parties involved. The photograpger needs to have a backup plan to get the photos the family deserves. The caterer needs to make sure all the food stays dry becuase GROSS to soggy food! Hair and makeup may need to stay longer through the day to give the bride the touch ups that may be necessary with melting makeup and humid hair! The coordinator, well, we are ALWAYS thinking of a back up plan but in this case, we needed one. Elise and Brian were hoping to host their ceremony outside of the tent with the reception set up inside. With the rain coming down, we had to make the decision to pull the cermeony inside the tent and flip the tent for the reception to follow.

And then theres the couple. The couple, in our case, Elise and Brian, have to be incredibly flexible to all of the "behind the scenes" changes that are made. We were lucky enough to be working with one of the sweetest couples through this who really just wanted to be married. Was it ideal that the tented wedding was caught in a rain storm? No. But, Elise and Brian handled it with grace. They were so kind throughout the day, and held their composure throughout their entire wedding.

The decor was simple, personal, and elegant. They used photos from throughout their relationship as decor, had their puppy, Bear, as part of the ceremony, and had only their closest family and friends in attendance. I was lucky enough to be able to design their table scapes with loose flowers and floarl blocks along with the aisle runners attached to the chairs. This was a FUN wedding for our creative brains!

We were so lucky to have been involved with the planning process for these two and we wish them nothing but the best in their long, happy, house renovating, dog loving marriage! We know you two will be as in love in 10 years as you were on June, 26th 2021.

xoxo

Alex and Caitlin.
